Road side view on the way to Gurudongmar Lake from Lachen village, Sikkim (N). The journey from Thangu (13000 ft) to Gurudongmar Lake is into the land of frozen rivers and chilled waterfalls. After about 16000 ft till Gurudongmar is mostly flat land with mountains on all sides. Its a high altitude desert, hardly any vegetation and very stony and dusty. From Thangu(13000 ft) where, as you climb higher, the tree line disappears and the lush green panoramas turn into a barren and foreboding landscape.
